Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve swarming and propagating efficiency, by mounting porous ferrite based magnets containing a component effective in adhering diatoms, microorganisms, etc., fixing, protecting and rearing young fishes, larva, etc., on the surface of a steel frame-like unit of a steel fish reef. CONSTITUTION:Porous ferrite based magnets 1 are impregnated with a component (e.g. fertilizer, bait, growth hormone or attractant substance) effective in adhering diatoms, microorganisms, etc., fixing, protecting and rearing young fishes, larvae, etc., by a method, such as vacuum impregnation. The resultant porous ferrite based magnets 1 impregnated with the effective component are then mounted on the surface of a steel frame-like unit of a steel fish reef 2 to constitute an artificial fish reef. Thereby, since the effective component impregnated into the magnets 1 is slowly eluted in the sea, effects thereof can be sustained for a long period. Since the magnets are used, mounting on optional places of the steel frame-like unit can be carried out and exchange is readily made.
