Abstract

PURPOSE:To insert the leads of semiconductor device into carrier tape with an automatic machine and to perform insertion readily even if the leads are slightly deformed, by using an apparatus having a triangular cone shaped hole, which is divided into two parts at the arbitrary position of the hole so that the hole can be opened and closed. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor device 1 having three leads is inserted into a jig and the like for positioning with said leads. As a guide for the insertion, a lead regulating apparatus 3 is used. In this apparatus, a triangular cone shaped hole is provided. The front part of the hole is made larger than a lead pitch, and the outlet port is made smaller than the inserting hole. The apparatus is divided at the arbitrary position of the hole so that the hole can be opened and closed. For example, the three leads of the semiconductor device 1 are brought close in the triangular cone shaped hole of the lead wire regulating apparatus 3. After the tips of the leads are inserted into the hole of carrier tape 2, the triangular cone shaped hole is opened, and the lead wires are completely inserted. The lead wires are brought close together during the insertion. After the insertion, the lead wires return to the original state by spring back.
