Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a substantially nonaqueous system electrolytic solution giving high conductivity, to improve the electrical characteristics of an electrolytic capacitor, to maintain stable characteristics for a prolonged term and to enhance the reliability of the electrolytic capacitor by containing the quarternary ammonium salt of nicotinic acid, isonicotinic acid or a picolinic acid as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The quarternary ammonium salt of nicotinic acid, isonicotinic acid or picolinic acid is contained as an electrolyte. Either of alkylammonium salt, pyrrolidinium salt, piperidinium salt or pyridinium salt may be used as the quarternary ammonium salt. A substance which does not contain water substantially is only employed as a solvent, and an aprotic solvent or a proton solvent can be used. A solvent consisting of 68wt.% gamma-butyrolactone, 17wt.% ethylene glycol and 15wt.% nicotinic acid tetramethylammonium, a solvent composed of 68wt.% N,N-dimethylformaldehyde, 17wt.% ethylene glycol and 15wt.% isonicotinic acid tetraethylammonium, etc., are employed.
