Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify and shorten a phase shifter in a high-frequency transmission system and facilitate the phase control between wave guides by providing a mechanism practically changing a dielectric substance inserted into the wave guide. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric substance 16 with the anisotropic dielectric constant is inserted into a wave guide 15, the dielectric substance can be changed in direction by a dielectric substance moving knob 18 centering a rotary shaft 17. If the size of the dielectric substance is set equal to the inner diameter size of the wave guide, the dielectric substance can be moved from the state that it is put on the bottom to the state that it is put vertically to the wave guide axis. If the high-frequency electric field has only the vertical component of the wave guide axis and the longitudinal side, when the direction of the anisotropic crystal axis of the dielectric substance is changed, the high-frequency electric field becomes equivalent to that generated when the dielectric substance with the different dielectric constant is inserted and the wavelength is changed, thus the phase at the outlet end is changed in the wave guide with the same length. The length of a phase shifter can be thereby shortened.
