Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the degree of freedom for connection between a magnetic card reader and a host device by applying the space transmission for transfer of data to the host device. CONSTITUTION:A card reading part 2 reads the information recorded on a magnetic card via a card reading head and sends the information to a control part 3 in the form of digital signals. The part 3 converts these received digital signals into analog signals and sends them to a transmission part 4. The part 4 uses the analog signals as the modulated waves for modulation of carrier waves or the light and sends these modulated waves or light to a space transmission line 7 outside a magnetic card reader. In such a way the information read out of a magnetic card are sent to a host device 5 from the reader 1 through a space without using any connection cable. As a result, the connecting limitation between the reader 1 and the device 5 caused by the use of a connection cable can be eliminated. Thus the degree of freedom is improved for the combination and the arrangement against the device 5.
