Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a coating film excellent in scratch resistance, adhesion of an overcoat, water resistance, chemical resistance and solvent resistance, by mixing a specified hydroxylated polyester resin with a resin reactive with the hydroxyl groups in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:This coating composition is formed by mixing a polyester resin (A) which is a product of condensation of a polycarboxylic acid component containing an aromatic polycarboxylic acid with a polyalcohol through dehydration and having a number-average MW of 2000-10000 and 2.1-2.8 hydroxyl groups in the molecule on the average with a resin (B) reactive with the hydroxyl groups in an A to B ratio of 90:10-60:40. As component B, at least one member selected from among an amino resin, a polyisocyanate resin and a blocked polyisocyanate resin is desirable.
