Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve chemical stability by coating a soln. prepd. by mixing specific metal alkoxides and diluting the same with a solvent on a substrate, then crystallizing the coating by heating and decomposing to form a perpendicularly magnetized Bi:DyIg film and using this film as a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The soln. prepd. by mixing the metal alkoxides of the cations constituting the bismuth-substd. dysprosium iron garnet expressed by BixDy3- xFe6-yMyO12 and diluting the mixture with the solvent is coated on the substrate and is crystallized by heating and decomposing to form the perpendicularly magnetized film of the bismuth-substd. dysprosium iron garnet. This film is used as the recording layer. In the formula, M is an element which can be substd. with Fe and is 0<x<3, 0<=y<=5. The control of the compsn. is, therefore, easily executed and the Bi:DyIg film having the good surface smoothness and the uniform film thickness is obtd. The chemical stability is thereby improved.
