Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled polymer of no crystallinity, small in light scattering, also outstanding in thermal stability and transparency, useful for the production of e.g. optical discs, lenses, etc., constituted of recurring units derived from each specific bisphenol. This polymer can be obtained, for example, by dissolving a mixture of 3,4'-(1-methyl ethylidene) bisphenol and various bisphenoles in an aqueous NaOH solution followed by adding dichloromethane to the system and also introducing phosgene to carry out condensation reaction at <=30 deg.C.
