Abstract
PURPOSE:To readily obtain a lower olefin in which selectivity and in high yield, by reacting methanol and/or dimethyl ether by using a catalyst of specific aluminosilicate zeolite type under a specific reaction condition. CONSTITUTION:Methanol and/or dimethyl ether is reacted in the presence of a catalyst of specific aluminosilicate zeolite type containing >=3wt.% calculated as Mg of Mg-containing compound and >=3wt.% calculated as P of p-containing compound at 300-700 deg.C, preferably 320-600 deg.C under 0.1-100atm., preferably 0.5-10atm. total pressure at 0.01-20hr<-1>, preferably 1-10hr<-1> weight time space velocity to give the aimed compound. A zeolite catalyst modified with magnesium phosphate obtained by blending or supporting magnesium phosphate on a aluminosilicate zeolite is preferable as the catalyst.
