Reducing the volume of compressible waste and packaging it in containers is convenient and inexpensive for transportation to dumping sites and storage of waste that cannot be dumped. There is a particular need for radioactive waste. If radioactive waste is dumped as it is, it will have a very large effect on the human body, so it is stored and managed in storage and disposal facilities. Among these, especially compressible solid waste is reduced in volume and packed into 200 drums. This involves putting the solid waste into a drum and compressing it with the piston of a hydraulic press, which is repeated seven to eight times. Hydraulic presses are used that have a capacity of about 20 tons to 100 tons, and the diameter of the piston is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the drum. Solid wastes subject to volume reduction include paper and cloth rags used in decontamination work;
The items included vinyl sheets used to prevent the spread of radioactive materials during maintenance and disassembly work, protective gear worn by workers, and other items no longer needed at the nuclear facility. These solid wastes are compressed using a hydraulic press to reduce their volume to about 1/3 to 1/6.

The volume of radioactive waste whose volume has been reduced in this way continues to increase year by year with the development of the nuclear power industry, and as of 1981, more than 200,000 drums were stored. It is difficult to store the ever-increasing amount of radioactive waste in existing storage and disposal facilities. Recently, a plan was made to dispose of some of the drums by dumping them into the ocean, but even as long-term safety has not yet been established, the understanding of local residents has not been gained. Therefore, in order to reduce the total amount of drums, refilling of radioactive waste is being carried out.

Compressible solid waste is often fibrous;
It is highly elastic, so even if it is compressed with a hydraulic press, it will quickly return to its original shape if left alone. As a result, solid waste builds up on top of the dolum can, making it difficult to cover and seal the can. Workers had no choice but to remove the solid waste that had piled up, then put a lid on and seal it. Therefore, even if solid waste is refilled, it is hardly implemented.

As described above, when only drums are used as waste treatment containers, there is a drawback that compressible waste cannot be sufficiently reduced in volume and packed.

The present invention was developed based on the above-mentioned circumstances, and its purpose is to provide a waste treatment container that can prevent compressed waste from expanding during treatment operations and further reduce the volume of waste when it is packed. It's about doing.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an embodiment of the present invention, and numeral 1 in the figure is a container. As shown in the figure, the surrounding wall of this container 1 is a corrugated plate, and the direction of the waves is in the axial direction of the container 1.
In this container 1, compressible waste 2 is stored.

4 is the inner lid. As shown in FIG. 2, the inner lid 4 is a plate-shaped body, the outer diameter of which is slightly smaller than the minimum inner diameter of the container 1, and a swollen collapsed portion 5 formed in the center. In addition, a crushed portion 4 is provided on the outer edge of the inner lid 4.
A cut surface 6 reaching the outer periphery from the vicinity of is formed. This cut surface 6 is for helping the outer periphery expand when the crushing portion 5 is crushed, and does not necessarily have to be as shown in the figure, and may be a simple cut.

次に上記実施例の作用について説明する。Next, the operation of the above embodiment will be described.

First, the operator puts the waste 2 up to the edge of the container 1 and places the inner lid 4 on top of it. Next, the operator operates a hydraulic press (not shown) located directly above the inner lid 4. The piston of the hydraulic press descends and pushes the inner lid 4, and the outer edge of the inner lid 4 is elastically deformed to slide on the protrusion 3 and press the waste 2. As the piston moves further down, the volume of the waste 2 is reduced and the internal pressure increases. When this internal pressure reaches a predetermined pressure, the crushing part 5 of the inner lid 4 collapses, and its outer periphery becomes 2 as shown in FIG.
It expands to the position indicated by the dotted chain line and engages with the protrusion 3. Next, the worker operates a hydraulic press to raise the piston. The inner lid 4 holds its position and prevents the waste material 2 from expanding. This completes one operation. The operator repeats this operation several times to reduce the volume of the waste 2 and pack it into the container 1. Finally, the operator covers the container 1 with a top lid (not shown) to seal the container 1.

In this embodiment, the volume of waste can be reduced in a short time.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the inner lid engages with the protrusion and suppresses the expansion of the waste, so the volume of the waste can be further reduced and packed. It is also possible to avoid the situation where it cannot be covered.

Note that the protrusion shown in the above embodiment is fixed to the inner wall of the container, but when the inner lid is moved down inside the container by using a radial method, the outer periphery of the inner lid pushes the protrusion so that it can be lowered. When the inner lid receives an upward force, it may be engaged with the protrusion to maintain its position.
