Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance diagnostic accuracy, by supporting a linear array vibrator having a plurality of converters arranged thereto by a sector driving part. CONSTITUTION:A linear array vibrator 5 having a plurality of converters 4 arranged thereto are supported by a mechanical sector driving part 3 not only to perform the electronic focus control of an emitted ultrasonic wave but also to make mechanical sector scanning and electronic linear array scanning possible. By this constitution, the three-dimensional part in an object to be examined determined by the product of the focal depth due to electronic focus control, the oscillating angle of the drive part 3 and the electronic linear array scanning width in the direction crossing the oscillating direction at a right angle can be made visible as a plurality of tomographic images without moving a composite ultrasonic probe 10. Further, the positional relation of the obtained tomographic image in the object to be examined can be determined without a mistake and the use of the probe 10 or the operation for the movement of the contact position of the probe is not required. Therefore, an examination time can be shortened and diagnosis can be brought to a high level.
