Abstract
PURPOSE:To drastically reduce thermometric cost, by making it possible to perform the long time continuous thermometry of a high temp. molten metal such as molten iron or steel by heating said metal to 600 deg.C or more at the time of non-thermometry to hold said temp. CONSTITUTION:A thermometer is constituted by arranging a PR thermocouple 2 in a protective pipe 1 composed of boride ceramics and connecting the terminal thereof to a temp. recorder using a compensation conductor. The temp. of a molten metal such as molten iron or steel is measured using the thermometer thus constituted. But, in order to prevent the lowering in temp. of the protective pipe 1 at the time of non-thermometry, a burner 6 is arranged in a protective box 5 and the protective pipe 1 is connected thereto to prevent the lowering in temp. by heating. The shape and heating system of the protective box 5 are not limited and pref. set so as to uniformly heat the whole of the protective pipe 1. Even at the time of non-thermometry, by heating the protective pipe 1, the molten metal is held to temp. of at least 600 deg.C or more.
