Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of a shock by providing a connection restricting means, which holds a disconnection condition, when input and output shafts generate a large differential speed therebetween in the time of transfer from the disconnection condition of a jaw clutch to its connection condition. CONSTITUTION:When a sleeve 33 moves rearward through a shift fork 35, a hub 24 is retracted by thrust force in tapered surfaces of jaw teeth 23, 27, and a jaw clutch 20, in which a ball 31 comes out from an engaging groove 15, is placed in a disconnection condition. Under this condition, a turning effect acts on a piston 41 through high viscous fluid 49 sealed between the internal periphery of a cylinder 4 of an input shaft 1 and the periphery of the piston 41. Here because a torsion bar 45 is provided linking between an output shaft 11, transmitting no power, and the piston 41, the clutch, while twisting the torsion bar 45, turns the piston 41 when a large differential speed is generated. And placing a ball 48 out of a recessed part 43 in a cam 42 to be engaged with an engaging groove 26 of the hub 24, the jaw clutch 20 is left as placed in the disconnection condition.
