Abstract

PURPOSE:To repeatedly use cristobalite with a simple operation and to prevent an increase in the running cost by bringing the cristobalite on which impurities are adsorbed into contact with an acidic soln. and/or an alkaline soln. CONSTITUTION:The cristobalite, on which the contaminant such as colloid and suspended matter, pigments, odorants, etc., are adsorbed, is brought into contact with an acidic soln. and/or an alkaline soln., and regenerated. When regeneration is carried out by using the acidic soln., an org. solvent contg. >=0.1wt.% acid is appropriately used. In addition, the cristobalite is appropriately brought into contact with the alkaline soln. under the conditions where the amt. of the dissolved silicic acid is controlled to <=5% of the used cristobalite. Concretely, the cristobalite is regenerated, for example, by bringing the cristobalite after adsorbing impurities into contact firstly with the acidic soln. and successively with the alkaline soln.
