CONSTITUTION:When oxygen dissolved in a soln. is removed with hydrazine, a hydrazinoalkanoic acid salt represented by formula I (where R is 1-3C hydrocarbon group, l is 0 or 1 M, is an alkali metal atom. or an ammonium base and each of m and n is an integer of 1-3) is used in combination with a metallic salt such as cobalt chloride and/or a quinone compd. such as p-benzoquinone so as to shorten the time required to remove the dissolved oxygen as well as to practically prevent the evaporation of hydrazine together with steam. The compd. represented by formula I is preferably used by an amt. equivalent to or exceeding the concn. of dissolved oxygen to be removed. Only small amts. of the metallic salt and the quinone compd. are effective.
