Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve reliable separating operation starting from the first sheet and to quicken processing by making the separating speed of first sheet slower than that for second and following sheets.
CONSTITUTION: When a push-out belt 20 is operated for the first time, a main motor 100 is rotated with low speed. Consequently, the push-out belt 20 and a paper feed belt 21 sharing the main motor 100 are operated with low speed so as to push out a document 4 with low speed. Consequently, the tip of the document is bitten softly at a pressure contact point between the paper feed belt 21 rotating with low speed and a non-rotating separation roller 22 without applying such force as enlarging the pressure contact point, and separation of first sheet which is carried out simultaneously with first pushing operation of the push-out belt 20 is made stably. Separation of second and following sheets is made with original speed, and the push-out belt 20 and the paper feed belt 21 are rotated with high speed. Since a wedge shape is already formed at the tip of document at the pressure contact point between the paper feed belt 21 and the separation roller 22 when the first sheet is separated, second and following sheets can be separated reliably.
