Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate an expensive driver and to miniaturize a device by installing a ferroelectric liquid crystal light shutter and a linear light shutter, etc. CONSTITUTION:The light projected from a linear light source 11 is transmitted in the desirable position of a picture element by the desirable length (l) of the picture element by the ferroelectric liquid crystal light shutter 12. Next, the transmitted light is modulated corresponding to the image information by the light shutter 13 and exposed on a photosensitive dram 14. In the same way, an electrostatic image is formed by repeating actions that the desirable position of the picture element is altered so as to execute exposure on the drum 14. By using the shutter 12 concerning the information of the binary density of white and black and half tone, etc., and using the shutter 13 concerning the modulation of the image information in terms of space, the functions of the respective elements are allotted. Thus, burdens to the respective shutters are reduced and the expensive driver is not necessitated, then the device can be miniaturized.
