Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic substrate having excellent formability by specifying the contents of an unsatd. polyester resin having a specific value or below of shrinkage rate at the time of curing, inorg. filler, reinforcing agent and release agent. CONSTITUTION:The substrate is formed by a thermocompression molding method or injection molding method, etc., using the material consisting of 16-30wt.% liquid unsatd. polyester resin having <=0.1% shrinkage rate, 35-80wt.% inorg. filler such as calcium carbonate, 3-30wt.% reinforcing agent such as glass fibers and the balance a proper ratio of the release agent and catalyst. This plastic substrate satisfies the required material characteristics such as hardness, coefft. of thermal expansion, heat resistance, thermal deformation temp. and surface roughness. A magnetic disk having the performance equi. to the performance of an Al substrate is thus obtd. at a low cost.
