Abstract
PURPOSE:To check the interference between form models in a short time by forming a solid model of a polyhedron with approximate balls including both convex and concave polyhedrons to perform the interference check between both approximate balls and also to perform the interference check between one of both approximate balls and the other polyhedron in case the interference is confirmed between both balls. CONSTITUTION:When a unit vector (r) is defined between centers OB and OA together with the unit line vector ni (i=1-m, m: polyhedron) of the surface of a polyhedron VA, a surface FA nearest the conditions of internal product r.ni=-1 is extracted out of the Va. The FA is closest to the OB since the VA is convex. Thus no interference is caused between the VA and a polyhedron VB as long as the FA exists at the outside of an approximate ball SB. When a part of the FA exists at the rear side of a plane PB, a surface FB of the VB closest to a plane PA as well as this PA itself are calculated by means of an approximate ball SA and the VB. Then similar processing is carried out.
