Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled crystal having large crystal particle size in high purity, by crystallizing a crude guanine as a guanine mineral acid salt so as to exclude a nucleic acid-related substance accompanying as an impurity and colored substance, then dissolving the salt in an alkali while heating, neutralizing the salt solution with a mineral acid and crystallizing the neutralized product. CONSTITUTION:An alkali solution of guanine heated at >=60 deg.C, especially heated mineral acid solution of crude guanine containing hypoxanthine is cooled and crystallized and an alkali is added to the resultant guanine mineral acid salt and while or after adding a mineral acid to the resultant alkali solution of guanine heated at >=60 deg.C, the solution is cooled to 20 deg.C to provide the guanine crystal having excellent deliquid properties and short filtration time. The crystal is readily separated.
