Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure an intraocular suspended substance with good accuracy by a simple method, by condensing laser beam to the predetermined point in the anterior sac and receiving the laser scattering beam from the interior of an eye by the scanning of said laser beam in horizontal and vertical directions.
CONSTITUTION: A slit beam source 12 is allowed to light and the slit image of a slit 14 is formed to the part containing the measuring point P of the anterior sac 11a through beam splitters 8, 10 and a lens 9 and, continuously, the beam from a laser beam source 1 is condensed to the measuring point P through the optical system thereof. A part of the beam scattered from the measuring point P is turned toward an examiner 33 by a beam splitter 21 to perform observation and, at the same time, incident to a photomultiplier tube 27 through a lens 22, a prism 23 and a mask 26. Vertical and horizontal scanning mirrors 4, 4' are scanned through serrated wave generating circuits 42, 42', a vertical scanning mirror driving circuit 43 and a horizontal scanning mirror driving circuit 43' under the control of an operation apparatus 41. As mentioned above, by receiving the laser scattering beam incident through a slit 26a by the photomultiplier tube, the intensity of the scattering beam from the suspended substance in the anterior sac is detected.
