Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically clean a room without troubling a person by providing an automatic vacuum cleaner which turns to again continue the cleaning operation when it comes into contact with an obstacle and turns to clean a place with dust even in the case where a sensor of a suction pipe does not detect dust during designated time.
CONSTITUTION: A sensor 4 provided in the front part of an automatic vacuum cleaner inputs a detection signal to a control circuit 12 if the cleaner comes into contact with an obstacle. The control circuit 12 stops a driving motor 5 for driving driving wheels 1, and reverses the driving motor during designated time T1. After the elapse of time T1, the control circuit 12 rotates a motor 7 to turn a support shaft 8 for supporting a steering wheel 2 about in a 90-degree arc during the prescribed time T2, and return to the initial position. Simultaneously, the driving motor 5 is turned in the forward direction. A signal from a sensor 11 for detecting the existence of dust in the suction pipe 10 is inputted to the control circuit 12, and if a no-dust signal is continued during the prescribed time T3 or more, the steering wheel 2 is turned about in a 90-degree arc during the prescribed time T2 by the motor 7. If the motor 7 repeats the above operation, the driving motor 5 and all power supplies are turned off.
