Abstract

PURPOSE:To enlarge the using rang of a map retrieving system by inputting an origin and a common object, retrieving a map picture in which the object is present and displaying the required map picture in the sequence of a short distance from the origin. CONSTITUTION:An operator key inputs the object information of the object of his by an operating part 1 from an object item managed previously in a map information recording part 3. Then, a control part 2 retrieves a map number or a map coordinate in which the object is included from the map information recording part 3 according to the information of the instructed object and completely records in a memory in the control part 2. Further, the control part 2 feeds the retrieved map number or the map coordinate to a coordinate arithmetic part 4 sequentially and obtains the distance from the map including the previously fetched origin. Then, the control part 2 sequentially feeds the map number or the map coordinate rearranged in the sequence of the small distance to the map information recording part 3, reads the information sequentially from the map near to the map including the origin and displays to a display part 8 together with the map picture read from a picture recording part 5.
