Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a simple cooling medium which shows a cooling effect merely by adding water, by using a water-soluble inorganic salt which has standard dissolution enthalpy showing an endothermic reaction when dissolved in water in combination with a hydrophilic material which controls the contact of water with the inorganic salt. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic salt (A) which has standard dissolution enthalpy showing an endothermic reaction and can be dissolved in an amount of 10g or more in 100g of water at 20 deg.C is used in combination with a hydrophilic material (B) which controls the contact of water with the inorganic salt, thus giving an objective simple cooling medium. Examples of component A include ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate, and sodium nitrate. Examples of component B include a crosslinkable polyethylene oxide compound, a polysodium acrylate, and cellulose sponge. This medium is inexpensive and shows a cooling effect merely adding water; therefore, it can be used leisure goods, cold fomentation, etc.
