Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a growth promoter by using a specific erythromycin derivative as an active ingredient, thus showing markedly reduced antibacterial activity with retention of improvement in feed efficiency for animals.
CONSTITUTION: The promoter contains a compound of formula I [R1 is H, acyl which may be substituted; R2 is R1, alkyl which may be substituted; R3 is H, methyl; R4 is H, hydroxyl; Ra is NRbNc (Rb is H, alkyl; Rc is Rb, alkenyl), formula II (RdWRf are alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkinyl; X- is anion); A is formula III [Z is formula IV (R5 is H, acyl, alkyl; R6 is H, alkyl), formula V, formula VI; R11, R12 are H, or incorporate to form a chemical bond]. No problems on tolerance is not caused, even when it remains in eggs or meat, because its antibacterial properties has been significantly reduced.
