Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent voltage drop in the initial period of discharging when large current discharge is made after storage at high temp. or for a long period, by adding aromatic compound to the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Aromatic compound is added to the electrolyte 4 of an inorganic non-aqueous electrolyte battery, which uses oxyhalides as pos. electrode active substance and solvent for electrolyte 4 and does alkali metal as neg. electrode active substance. Herein the lithium chloride film formed at the surface of a lithium neg. electrode 1 will be very coarse. Accordingly dispersion of lithium ion from the lithium neg. electrode 1 to electrolyte 4 is made smoothly, even at the time of large current discharging, without being hindered by the lithium chloride film, and therein the concentration polarization will become small. This prevents voltage drop in the initial period of discharging.
