Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the holding number of stands and to reduce time necessary for changing by selectively changing only stands required to be changed for rolling stand changing. CONSTITUTION:A new rolling stand 2 is put in a 1st cartridge 21 and is positioned and the cartridge 2 is put on a supporting table 22 and is fixed. A vacant 2nd cartridge 21a waist for a removed roll stand as a temporary yard. A carriage 1 is moved to a changing position (b), a changing crane 17 moves to lift plural rolling stands 2 required to be changed and transfers the stands 2 to the 2nd cartridge 21a and puts them temporarily. The new stand 2 prepared on the 1st cartridge 21 is lifted to be put in a cartridge on the carriage 1 positioned in the changing position (b), an assembled rolling stand is positioned and fixed, and then the carriage 1 is moved to a rolling position (a), and a driving system is connected. Thus, the holding number of stands and the changing time are reduced to improve productivity.
