Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a varistor having excellent characteristics by one-time baking by mounting a setter consisting of a phenol resin between a sheath and a cover and baking the varistor mainly comprising zinc oxide and using polyvinyl alcohol as a binder in the sheath, the inside of which is brought to a bismuth oxide atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A varistor molding mainly comprising zinc oxide represented by 6a to be baked in a sheath 4 and employing polyvinyl alcohol as a binder is positioned onto a base on which laying powder is laid. On the other hand, several setters composed of a phenol resin in 10mmphiX10mmt represented by 7 are arranged onto the sheath 4, and the upper sections of the setters are covered with a cover 5 so that the sheath 4 becomes hermetic when the setters 7 are shrunk. The varistor molding is baked for 1-5 hr at 1100-1300 deg.C in a single furnace or a tunnel furnace under this state. Accordingly, the excellent varistor having superior non-linearity and stabilized high-temperature load lifetime can be manufactured through one-time baking.
