Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize furnace operation and to improve energy efficiency by blowing ore containing metal oxide from upper step tuyeres together with high temp. air and controlling blasting condition and ore supplying condition so as to satisfy the specific relational expression. CONSTITUTION:The high temp. oxygen enriched air is blasted to packing layer for carbon series solid reducing agent charged from a hopper 2 from plural tuyeres 6, 11 composing of at least two steps through heat exchanger 9, and the ore is blown from a hopper 1 through the upper step tuyeres 6 together with the high temp. air to obtain molten metal. In a shaft type smelting reduction furnace 5, the blasting condition and the ore supplying condition are controlled so as to satisfy the equation (L/G)X(SCRT/AT)=0.25-0.6. Herein, L; molten generating layer = CA+S+YM+YS(m<3>/h), CA; ash from fuel coke, S; quantity of slag making material, YM; metal quantity in the ore, YS; gangue in the ore, G; generating gas quantity (Nm<3>/h), SCRT=n.SR.aT.H, n; number of pair in the two step tuyeres, SR; 0.0589DR<2>, DR=8.81X10<-3>XU/D<1/2>XDH, U; flowing velocity of the tuyere (m/sec), DP; average diameter of the coke (m), DH; diameter of the tuyere (m), aT=6(1-epsilon)/(phi.DP), epsilon; packing ratio of the coke, phi; coefficient of coke shape, H; interval of tuyeres (m), AT; cross sectional area of the furnace bottom (m<2>).
