Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase printing processing quantity without generating the hooking of paper and to achieve efficient printing, by providing an intermediate stop position holding means for stopping a thermal head between a head-down position and a head-up position to a head driving mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a cam 10 is rotated in a clockwise direction from a paper inserted state, a pin 15 moves along a cam groove 16 to reach the groove part B of the next stage and a drive plate 9 rotates in the clockwise direction around a shaft 2 and a take-up rack 8 is drawn by a tensile spring 14 to rotate upwardly. The rack gear of the take-up rack 8 is separated from a hook 12 and brought into contact with the press projection 19 provided to the under surface of a carriage 3 to slightly push up and revolve the carriage 3. The carriage 3 revolves toward a platen 1 and a thermal head 4 is lightly brought into contact with paper 17. However, the thermal head 4 is not pressed to the platen 1 to become a state providing a slight gap between the thermal head and the platen rubber 1a of the platen 1 and, even when the carriage 3 is largely moved, the paper 17 is not hooked with the carriage 3.
