Abstract

PURPOSE:To thin a device, by constituting the device so that a period by which a magnetic head is selected on the same rotary plane can be set at an azimuth angle selected in order and with different magnetic heads setting the period as the rotary period of (n+0.5) of a rotary head drum. CONSTITUTION:Two rotary planes are constituted on the rotary head drum 10, and two magnetic heads are arranged on each rotary plane at an angle interval of 180 deg., and the magnetic head R1 is mounted on the upper plane of an upper rotary drum 12, and the magnetic head R2 on the lower plane. A magnetic tape 11 is wound with an angle of 285 deg. on the drum 10, and the drum 10 moves in a direction of arrow head A, and the magnetic tape 11 in a direction of arrow head B. When the device is started to operate, a second rotary plane L2 is selected, and records a signal on the magnetic tape 11 until the drum 10 rotates with an angle of 285 deg.. At a time when the drum 10 rotates with an angle of 270 deg., the R1 arrives at the position of the L2, and the R1 starts recording. After the over-up recording of around 15 deg. with the L2, the R1 performs the recording independently, and at the next 270 deg., the R2 starts the recording, and when the recording section of the R2 is completed, an L1 is selected as the next recording head.
