NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I [R<1> is H, COR' (R' is alkyl or aryl) or COOR' (R'' is alkyl or aryl); R<2> and R<3> are (substituted) aromatic group; R<4> and R<5> are (substituted) aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon] or a compound shown by formula II. EXAMPLE:(2S,4S)-4-Dicyclohexylphosphino-2-diphenylphosphinomethylpyrol idine. USE:A ligand for asymmetric reactions. PREPARATION:For example, L-hydroxyproline is converted into L- hydroxyproline hydrochloride, which is esterified and reduced to give 2- hydroxymethyl-4phydroxypyrrolidine. The OH group is protected and the resultant substance is successively phosphinylated and the phosphinyl group is reduced to give a compound shown by formula I or formula II.
