Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a moth-proofing and mildew-proofing composition capable of keeping the effect over a long period, by compounding a moth-proofing and mildew-proofing agent with a fine porous material composed of an inorganic material, foamed polymer, etc., and reduced in the presence of a non-ferrous catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding a moth- proofing and mildew-proofing agent (e.g. stabilized chlorine dioxide, bromide or hypochlorous acid) with a fine porous material at a ratio of 0.001-0.1. The fine porous material is e.g. inorganic material having a number of fine pores of 2-2,800Angstrom in diameter (e.g. Oya-ishi, zeolite, cristobalite, activated carbon or clinoptilolite) or foamed polymer (e.g. polyurethane or polystyrene) and is preferably reduced by heating in the presence of <=0.1wt.% of a non-ferrous catalyst containing C, Si, F, etc., at >=550 deg.C for inorganic material or >=150 deg.C for foamed polymer while keeping the material from contacting with air.
