Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a gear and belt from generation of backlash, by a method wherein when slowing-down printing is performed, a speed of a carriage part is slowed down by friction force in a state where acceleration torque which moves the carriage part in a printing direction is applied to a motor. CONSTITUTION:In a section l1 of slowing-down printing, a speed of a carriage part is slowed down from a constant printing vc as shown by a slowing-down curve A1. In the slowing down printing section l1, the speed is reduced by friction force which the carriage part 1 recerives under a state where acceleration torque for moving the carriage part 1 in a printing direction is applied to a motor 3, for instance, by force of friction between the carriage part 1 and a carriage shaft 4 and of friction between a printing head 2 and an ink ribbon. Thereby, a backlash between a drive gear 6 and a pinion rack gear is not generated. After ending slowing-down printing, the carriage part 1 is quickly stopped as shown by the slowing-down curve A2 by giving a maximum limit slowing-down torque to the motor 3 and a braking section l1 is shortened as far as possible. Thereby, a practical printing speed, a throughput can be improved.
