Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition having high bonding speed, curable at normal temperature, having long pot life and suitable as a locking adhesive for screw, by compounding a specific monomer, an organic peroxide, a water-soluble compound and a reducing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be produced by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a monomer having acryloyl group and/or methacryloyl group and emulsified in water by the aid of a film-forming polymer with (B) 0.2W3pts. wt. of an encapsulated organic peroxide, (C) 0.02W0.5pts.wt. of a water-soluble compound having mercapto group and (D) 0.1W2pts.wt. of a reducing agent forming a redox system with the component B and other than the component C. The component A is preferably produced e.g. by slowly adding a monomer such as methyl (meth)acrylate to an aqueous solution of a polymer exhibiting surface activity in the state of aqueous solution and having a number-average molecular weight of about 3,000W50,000 under vigorous agitation to effect emulsification of the monomer and adding an acrylate polymer to the emulsion.
