Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a thrombus and to improve the penetration and holding of newly grown tissue, by using a tubular body for an artificial blood vessel composed of a porous tubular body wherein elastic fibers composed of a polyether ester type copolymer are mutually bonded to allow the dynamical characteristic thereof approximate to that of the blood vessel of a living body. CONSTITUTION:An elastic fiber nonwoven fabric composed of a polyether ester type copolymer pref. has a basis wt. of 10-50g/m<2>. As a core rod used in the molding of a tubular body, material quality hardly generating the adhesion to a polyether ester type copolymer fiber is desirable in order to pull off the tubular body after heat-molding and an iron rod coated with a fluorocarbon resin or a fluorocarbon resin round rod is pref. used. The heating temp. used in molding is pref. 100-250 deg.C. The porous tubular body thus obtained has such a structure that the polyurethane elastic fibers of the nonwoven fabric are mutually strongly bonded and integrated by heating, and the diameter and wall thickness of the inner cavity of the tubular body can be changed by changing the dimensions of the core rod and a retaining mold.
