Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive higher versatility and printing speed, by providing a means for designating a reading address for a printing frame buffer storing printing data therein, a means for controlling reading of printing data, a data arrangement switching means for controllingly switching bit data for each line read, and the like. CONSTITUTION:At the time of printing printing data stored in a printing frame buffer 5, an address is set on an address selector 3, and a counter in an address signal- generating circuit 11 is set. In the case of protruding the head of a printing material and printing the printing data on the material, the printing data for a range from the top line to the bottom line is sequentially read, whereas in the case of protruding the bottom of the printing material and printing the printing data on the material, the printing data for a range from the bottom line to the top line is sequentially read, and the thus read data is supplied to a data arrangement switching circuit 6. Without data reversion, the data is outputted to a thermal head 13 through a parallel- serial converting circuit 12. In the case of a head-exposure and mirror printing operation or a bottom-exposure and mirror printing operation, data reversion by the circuit 6 is conducted, and the reversed data is outputted to the head 13 through the circuit 12.
