Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled cell preservable over a long period, without causing the loss of culture tools accompanied by the dissemination of cells after freezing and thawing, by culturing an anchorage-dependent cell on a culture substrate, exchanging the culture medium with a freezing medium and immediately freezing the cell together with the substrate. CONSTITUTION:An anchorage-dependent cell is cultured on a culture substrate, the culture medium is exchanged to a freezing medium and the cell is immediately frozen together with the culture substrate to obtain the objective cell. Preferably, the culture of the cell is carried out until the cell density reaches a confluent state and the surface of the culture substrate is coated with an adhesion- promoting substance (e.g. gelatin) prior to the dissemination of the cell.
