Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the engagement and disengagement of gears by making the gear change stage of an automatic transmission temporarily a high gear condition at the time of the changeover of a center differential changeover device or a 2-4 wheels changeover device. CONSTITUTION:A controller 42 has a gear change control means 42B for controlling the gear change mechanism 4 of an automatic transmission 5, and this gear change control means 42B receives a load signal from a throttle sensor 45 for detecting a throttle opening and a vehicle speed signal from a vehicle speed sensor 46 to control the gear change operation, etc., of a driving part 47 with a solenoid valve, etc., in accordance with these signals. And, on receiving the output of a changeover control means 42A, the gear change control means 42B makes the gear change stage of the automatic transmission 5 temporarily a high gear condition at the time of the changeover between 2-wheel- and 4-wheel-driving in a transfer device 6 or the changeover under an unlocked differential gear, to lower the torque which acts on the gears of changeover devices.
