In this case, an atmospheric temperature is detected by a detector 4, and the then power-factor is set by a function generator 8. Then, a deviation between the power-factor of the generator 3 detected by a power-factor detector 7 and the set power-factor is computed by a comparator 9. In this case, when the power-factor of the generator is more delayed than the set one, then the output of voltage stepdown signal is directed to an automatic voltage regulator, and when the power-factor of the generator is more advanced than the set one, then the output of voltage step-up signal is directed to the automatic voltage regulator. As a result, efficient operation can be performed.
