Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust the total delay time by setting a proper packet length for each virtual circuit independently of the queueing delay relating to the virtual circuit set between terminal equipments. CONSTITUTION:A packet with different data length for each call in response to at least one of exchange node numbers of lines set among transmission/ reception terminal equipments 104 106, byway transmission line number and byway transmission line speed is used. That is, although the queueing delay of packets 101, 102 of the virtual circuit having much exchange node from a terminal equipment 104 toward a terminal 105 is less than the exchange node from the terminal 104 toward the terminal 106 in the queueing delay of the packet 103 of the virtual circuit with less exchange node, the packet generation delay is reduced by generating a short packet than the packet 103 with respect to the packets 101, 102. Thus, the difference in the queueing delay is compensated by the packet generation delay in this way to reduce the difference in the total delay.
