Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce surface damage, by forming a film based on carbon to a card main body as a protective film. CONSTITUTION:A card main body is formed, for example, by forming the patterns of an Al reflecting film and recording bits 14 to a polycarbonate resin substrate 15 and bonding said pattern surface to a polyvinyl chloride substrate 11 by an adhesive 12 and subsequently forming a diamond film 16, a diamond like carbon film 16 or a carbon film 16 of diamond like carbon and graphite like carbon to the polycarbonate resin substrate 15. The film 16 is generally transparent in visible and infrared regions and the hardness thereof shows a value close to that of natural diamond and, therefore, even if the film is brought into contact with a substance excepting diamond, said film is not damaged in spite of a thin film. As a result, the deterioration of data due to damage at the time of reading by laser beam is not generated.
