Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate slippage and reduce curling, by bundling polyethylene filaments having a specific weight-average molecular weight, tensile strength, tensile modulus of elasticity and knot strength of single yarn to form a core material ind providing a braided structure of metallic small-gage wires on the outside. CONSTITUTION:Plural polyethylene filaments 2 having >=2X10<5> weight-average molecular weight, >=25g/d tensile strength of single yarn, >=530g/d initial tensile modulus of elasticity of the single yarn and >=10g/d knot strength of the single yarn are bundled to form a core material and a braided structure consisting of metallic small-gage wires 1 and 3 (e.g., tungsten) are provided on the outside thereof. The metallic small-gage wires 1 are braided aslant to the fiber axis at an angle within the range of 12-25 deg.. As a result, slippage of ultrahigh- tenacity polyethylene based fiber can be eliminated to form a flexible fishing line with hardly any curling property.
