Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the influence of tone jump by expressing the gradation of an image to be recorded by means of a first integer part and a first decimal part, synthesizing a random number with respect to the first decimal part, accumulating a second decimal part which can be obtained, and correcting the first integer part based on the results.
CONSTITUTION: In the generation of a gradient network in a main scanning direction, a decimal part DX with respect to respective picture elements along the main scanning direction is added with the same random number RDX, and a synthesized value CX is generated. An adder 253 obtains a synthesized value CY by synthesizing the decimal part DY with respect to an auxiliary scanning direction Y and a random number RDX. Thus, carrier signals CRX1 and CRY1 outputted from adders 153 and 253 are used when the first integer part IX is corrected and the integer part IXC (M bit) is generated. Thus, the influence of tone jump is prevented.
