Abstract

PURPOSE:To enlarge an area in contacting with a tape, and to uniform an abrasion loss by interposing the magnetic head, existing at the both ends of a multi-channel type rotary magnetic head device, between thin plate-shaped holders, having the nearly same abrasion resistance as that of the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic heads 2a-2d are arranged correspondingly to the drum window 3 of a drum 1, in the multi-channel type rotary magnetic head device with more than three channels, and the W1 thick heads 2a and 2d, existing at the both ends, are interposed between the holders 6, constituted of the material of the same abrasion resistance as that of the head, and a head thickness (tape contact thickness) W2, including the thickness W1' of the holder, is made into W2=W1+2W1'. Then, the tape tensions F of the heads 2a, 2d at the both ends are made higher, and the tape contact area A is enlarged by interposing between the holders 6, and by interposing between the holders 6, and because of the relation of the tape contact pressure P=F/A, the tape contact pressures of the heads 2a-2d are nearly equalized, and the abrasion losses are made to be the same.
