Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a desired coupling factor, by forming conductor films on the open end face of a dielectric block in such a way that the films are projected from the outside conductor on the side faces of the block in the directions approaching an electromagnetic field coupling through hole.
CONSTITUTION: On the open end face of a dielectric block, conductor films 6 and 6 are formed in such a way that they are projected from the outside conductor on the side faces of the block in the directions approaching an electromagnetic field coupling through hole 5. Because of the conductor films 6, the distances between the hole 5 and the side faces of the block are made equivalently shorter and the strength of the electric coupling between two resonators is reduced. Therefore, the entire coupling strength of this one-body type dielectric resonator is increased as compared with other resonators having no conductor films 6. Since the characteristic impedance of the odd mode can be increased and the electric angle of the odd mode can be reduced in such way, the coupling factor between the two resonators increases as compared with other resonators provided with the coupling hole only. Therefore, the coupling factor can be adjusted easily by adjusting the projected lengths and shapes of the conductor films.
