Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resolution and color reproducibility by providing a line image sensor, arranging plural filters of different color to the upper part of the line image sensor in parallel along the lengthwise direction and selecting sequentially the filters contributing to the read of a picture differently synchronously with the read of the picture. CONSTITUTION:Since the picture of a color original is read while being decomposed into three colors (red, green and blue) in a different time at each picture element 5, 5... of the line image sensor 3 by switching liquid crystal shutters 12-14, one line image sensor 3 is enough for the purpose. Since three color pictures are read by switching sequentially filters 9-11 arranged on the sensor 3, each color picture is read in the arrangement density of the picture element of the sensor 3 itself and the picture of each color is read by the same picture element of the sensor 3. Thus, the resolution and the color reproducibility are improved.
