Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize an image of high quality from even a photosensitive material of low sensitivity, by a method wherein a ferroelectric liquid crystal is used by making a shutter window of a liquid crystal and optical shutter part into a matrix state, and the image is moved keeping a relative position thereof to the photosensitive material as it is by conforming it to a position of a photosensitive material drum. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal and optical shutter part 11 makes crossing parts of a plurality of scan electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged in a matrix state on opposed faces of a pair of parallel substrates shutter windows, and keeps ferroelectric liquid crystal between those substrates, Further, the liquid crystal and optical shutter part 11 is equipped with a scan side drive circuit 12 which applies a scan voltage successively selecting at least one scan electrode at a fixed cycle to a plurality of scan electrodes and a signal side drive circuit 13 which applies a signal voltage based on an information signal to a plurality of signal electrodes synchronized with scanning of the scan electrode, and transfers image information in the liquid crystal and optical shutter part 11 so that the image imaged on the photosensitive material according to rotation of the photosensitive material drum is moved keeping a relative position thereof to the photosensitive material as it is. Therefore, since the image continues to expose a same part of the photosensitive material drum, sufficiently high image quality can be obtained from even a light source of low luminance or the photosensitive material of low sensitivity also.
