Abstract

CONSTITUTION:In the time of normal electric discharge machining, generated torque of a powder brake (main tension brake) 5 is transmitted to a main tension pulley 4, and tension is given to a wire electrode 3. In the time of stopping the electric discharge machining, rotation of the main tension pulley 4 stops, but here a forcedly driving motor 6 transmits its turning effect to the powder brake 5 continuing its rotation. The turning effect of this rotation is not transmitted to the pulley 4 by a one-way clutch. Accordingly, even when the electric discharge machining is stopped, because the powder brake 5 continues its rotation and holds the generated torque to a fixed value, tension given to the wire electrode can be always stably obtained.
