CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1 are bundled and the plastic filler 2 is charged in all of the gaps between the fibers 1, and the end surface of the light incidence surface is smoothed to form a substrate, and transmissive liquid crystal cells 4 are arranged thereupon to form the optical image by a back light source. Light projection surfaces 3 are arrayed at intervals of necessary magnification and the optical image on the light incidence surface is enlarged by the necessary magnification. Then liquid crystal is used as an optical shutter and the constituted optical image is enlarged by utilizing the effect of the image enlargement of the optical fibers. Consequently, an image of good picture quality is formed and the lightweight, durable, and low-cost display device with small capacity is obtained.
